Remote Library
NLLB remote libraries come in many forms, each meeting the need of the people and the location.
We have taken large waterproof plastic tubs filled with books in the language of the people to remote areas. We have purchased books that target preschool through adult, often seeking books on basic hygiene and health care for the adults. We place our books with responsible individuals who will care for the books, while seeing that they are utilized by all. We often choose someone who is disabled in order to bring people to them, allowing for interactions that we see turn into friendships.
NLLB purchased books and a bookshelf for a small free preschool in Myanmar. Books are
an extreme luxury in that country and many of the children held their first book ever.
NLLB has known Miss Houston, a disabled woman who lives in Houston. She lives in an apartment block with around 30 units. There are many children in this block and she often has the children into her apartment to watch TV, keeping them off the streets. NLLB recently purchased a bookshelf and received 2 boxes of donated books, as well as colored pencils and coloring books. She was so excited to have the books for the children to read and asked for children’s Bibles so that she could hold a weekly Children’s Bible Study for interested children in her complex.
